Unique early piece produced by Carl Thieme in his Saxonian Porcelain Factory of Potschappel, Saxony, Germany. In wonderful antique condition!
The iconic marking which appears on the underside of this piece - crossed lines in blue with a T in the center - was used by Carl Thieme Porcelain Factory between 1888-1901
In 1872 Carl-Johann Gottlob Thieme established his Saxonian Porcelain Factory in Potschappel, Saxony, Germany. For decades the company produced exquisite porcelain under the leadership of Thieme’s son-in-law and grandsons after Thieme’s his death, pioneering the method of applied floral and other decorations for which Dresden style porcelain came to be known. After WWII the German government gradually increased its involvement, ultimately nationalizing the company fully by 1972. In 1991 the company was reprivatized.
